Nic: Trust and communication. We know each other’s game well enough to cover gaps without overthinking it. We will take time in between points to discuss strategy.
Kelvin: Trust, communication and chemistry. Sometimes, as the rallies go too fast, there is no time for communication, and this is where the chemistry comes in. As we know each other's game, there are certain things we can get done without communicating.
Q2) Are you two aggressive from the get-go and put pressure on the other team OR are you more patient and alter your strategies on the go?
Nic: We start patient, read the other team, then turn up the pressure once we get a pop up.

Kelvin: In our first few tourneys, we tried to be patient and wait for the right time to be aggressive but as our chemistry got better, we are able to be more aggressive from the get go to apply pressure earlier in the games.

Q3) How have you been preparing for the upcoming Pesta Sukan?
Nic: Extra dinking and third shot drop drills, plus games together to sharpen timing before the tournament.
Kelvin: As we don't really have much time to train together, we have been doing our own training and are gonna go in and wing it.

Q4) Do you two have your own superstitions before a match/competition?
Nic: A fist bump before every serve. And wearing the same coloured top for the game.
Kelvin: Just no eating pickles before and during tourney days. Wearing a matching-coloured outfit is a plus but not super important to me.
Q5) What would be a successful Pesta Sukan for you two (besides winning, of coz)?
Nic: No injuries, no blaming each other for lost points, and good food after. That’s a solid day.
Kelvin: Enjoy each game. Winning would be great but we know that there are many strong opponents. So, we will do our best. And having some good food after.
